Salt and Pepper Shakers

After spending the afternoon redesigning my blog and browsing past postings I realized that I really like the Fabulous Finds blog postings from the past.  So, here is another latest in vintage finds from the Prairies of Kansas. 

Great little crystal salt and pepper shakers that are so sweet when you are entertaining and need several sets on the table for your guests.

These are so in, again.  They really look great on the guys but I have seen a few girls that looked adoreable in them.  Great geekery.

This silver plated set is from Japan and is really heavy with beautiful detailing.  Another fun piece to use when entertaining.

Sweet Lazy Susan Sewing Storage

This is the sweetest sewing storage case I have ever seen.  It's a lazy susan that spins, with a holder on top for your pin cusion.  Lift the lid on top and you have storage for bobbins, thimbles, needles, etc.  The next level has pegs for spools of thread.  All in PINK.

Hope Looks Forward Silver Bracelet

A recent request for a silver spoon bracelet for a petite wrist with a lengthy expression prompted me to rethink the design to accomodate a smaller wrist size.

I detached the spoon bowl from the handle, modified the size making it smaller, stamped the bowl and then shaped it to fit comfortably on the top of the wrist.  I then trimmed the spoon handle making it shorter as well and shaped it to fit the side of the wrist.

A silver chain and lobster clasp were added making the bracelet ready for my petite friend who requested this bracelet to be made for them.  I love it so much, I am sure there will be more to follow.

I love this illustration with the sheep in the background and the young lass looking up to the heavens.  Since it is knitting season and I have been wool obsessed I thought I would share it with you.

Mari Muinonen, Made By Myself Knitting Project - Krookus Cardigan

It's a quiet morning at my house with Angus on my left and Molly on my right snuggled in under a soft fleece throw - it's our favorite place to be on cold mornings.  So warm and cozy, it sets a nice tone for the busy day ahead.

Today I have several pieces of jewelry to finish on my bench that need to be shipped out this afternoon, it's also set up day at the Liberty Belle, and I still have to finish pricing and packaging new jewelry pieces for the show.  The day before a show is always a busy one and part of the process that we artists undergo to continue funding our passions, it's an ongoing cycle.  Design, Create, Promote and hope for sales.

As the temperatures begin to drop, I begin to yearn for fiber - there's something so soothing about the soft yarn passing through my fingers and the sound of clicking bamboo knitting needles.  It's how I wind down at the end of the day.  After reviewing literally hundreds of knitting patterns, this is the one I chose to knit. It's a sweater from the book Brave New Knits by Julie Turjoman.  The sweater I chose to knit is a design by Mari Muinonen, a school teacher in Finland that also designs knitting projects.  She has a wonderful blog - Made By Myself filled with original knitting designs for sweaters, socks, hats, scarves...her designs are simple and architectural - she has a free pattern section that is a must see.

The cardigan I am knitting is called the Krookus Cardigan - Krookus, which is the Finnish name for the flower Crocus chysanthus.  Being an avid gardener, the name sealed the deal for me.  I love the design, and the color is a vibrant fuschia.  I selected a soft wool fiber that is resulting in a very soft knit that will be so comfy to wear with the added warmth of wool.   The shorter sleeves and full flowing fit will make this sweater my new favorite cabled sweater as I can wear it inside without getting to warm.  A problem with pullover cabled sweaters that tend to be bulky and too warm for inside wear.  They feel great outside, but once you leave your car and enter a shop, you instantly get too warm.  Why do they keep shops so warm in the Winter, anyway?  Carrying around a coat or sweater is not a good shopping experience for me as I have to touch everything before I buy it...am I the only one?

Love the soft buttery leather in a creamy shade of white with a sterling silver stamped plate stitched in place with brown thread and gun metal snaps.  Perfect for the fiber enthusiast - can't wait to see who will wear it at the end of the exchange.

Collecting Elegance

The lilacs have been extraordinary this year and I have been gathering bouquets to bring into the kitchen where they fill the room with their heavenly scent.  The blossoms are fading and the last bouquet was brought into the kitchen today...if they only lasted a bit longer.  I may have to go in search of a lilac scented candle to take their place.

I have found some lovely pieces of silver to offer to you this week.  All lovely and so elegant at the family gathering during the holidays.  This relish tray has a depression glass insert with a divider for two different relishes or pickles varieties.  It has a footed base and an intricately embellished handle.

I pulled open a drawer on a little wooden table in my house the other day while searching for something and found these great numbers that I had stashed inside with the best tarnished patina and bubbly glass covers over the numbers.  I was so excited, I had forgotten that I had them.  Now they have found a home in my kitchen window for my Spring decorating.  Don't you just love them?

A sweet little grater with a tin lid that would look so darn cute in your kitchen hanging from a peg, hook or knob or nestled in an ironstone bowl with your other kitchen gadgets.

I found this vintage glass pitcher at an antique shop and I have so enjoyed adding fresh blossoms for my kitchen.  I like the added height that the silver tray provides to the arrangement.  It's one of my goals to treat myself to fresh flowers from my garden this year and when there are no available blossoms they will be purchased at market.  I am loving this little treat that I am giving myself...I highly recommend doing something special that you love just for you.

I love how silver looks on a shelf arranged together will your favorite things...there's something so romantic about it, don't you think?  It reminds me of a gentler time and weekends at my Grandmother's and Aunt's homes.  They always set a gracious table.

Sweet little bird was once a birthday present in 1951 written on the bottom of the figurine - so precious.  This little bird would be fun in an assemblage project or sitting on your shelf.

I hope you had a lovely weekend filled with fun Spring projects.  It rained here all weekend, but we managed to do a little yard work anyway.  The new trees we planted last week appreciate the Spring rains, I'm sure.
