Fly Necklace and Winter Cardinals

This little fellow was entertaining me at my window this week while I was watching the birds at the feeder. It's still snowy here and cold. I think everyone is having an unusual cold snap this year. The kids missed three days of school last week due to below zero wind chills. They loved it, of course.

Back to this little fellow that seemed to know that I was at the window photographing him for a blog posting.

Aren't cardinals beautiful against the white snow, pretty little red birds make me so happy.

Birds are one of my favorite inspirations for my work. I never tire of including them in my jewelry. This time with a vintage silver salt spoon that I found at one of my favorite antique shops.

I stamped the word, FLY onto the handle and attached a golden sparrow. She seems to be hovering over her nest below in the bowl of the spoon.

Here's her tiny golden nest with three tiny turquoise eggs nestled inside.

So sweet Julie! Love the word stamped, love the little nest. All works so beautifully! I am totally inspired by birds as well. Guess for me they represent freedom, flight, renewal, wonderful things like that. Take care, Riki

Hello Julie and thanks for your sweet comment!

As I have said earlier, I just love your jewellery! :-) First, I really like old silver spoons and always look for them at flee markets etc. Second, I love birds, because as Riki wrote: they represent freedom and so much more. It must be wonderful to be able to look at the world from up above! :-) So your necklace with the bird and the nest is so beautiful!

I am quite tired today, because my little girl Mollie has phneumonia and I didn´t get much sleep last night. I have been so worried! The vet said that it is quite unusual, and was a bit worried about her fever. She has been sleeping for two days now and is totally exhausted, but I hope she will get better now... this evening her eyes seemed clearer and she even tried to sit up for a moment :-).

Many hugs,
Beatrice

This is so beautiful. You really do have a handle on it all, the craftmanship, the symbolism, the beauty. Congratulations on being a real craftsman.
