Saint Mary Necklace

Another necklace made specifically around the vintage Gerber baby spoon I found at an antique shop. It's aged so wonderfully to a great patina that I knew it would be perfect for a future piece of jewelry. I made a little wire bird's nest for the bowl of the spoon with three sky blue eggs tucked inside.

This is how the little spoon remained for months until I found the perfect compliments to the spoon. When I found this vintage reproduction medallion with Saint Mary I knew she belonged with the Gerber baby spoon. Pearls were a natural choice seperated with tiny glass turquoise and clear seed beads. I love the carved turquoise bead in this necklace and it repeated the turquoise seed beads used with the pearls.

I used the same wire from the nest to link the jasper beads and the turquoise bead together. The darkness of the metal wire prevents the necklace from being too soft.
I added Jasper beads and an amethyst bead for interest and color.

This necklace symbolizes the sanctity of motherhood and is available for purchase in my Online Store.
