Joy of Life is a reoccurring theme in my life, as I am a visual person by nature and I get so excited about the simplest of things. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed by the beauty that surrounds me that my breath gets caught in my throat. I am speechless. Does this happen to you? It happens when I see a beautiful sunset, or sunrise, when I see the vastness of the starry sky on a cold Winter's night, the smell of a newborn's head, the velvety feel of a rose petal on your fingertip, holding my niece or nephews hand...
My family brings me joy, the sound of laughter during our family get togethers, my Dad cooking in the kitchen, my Mom quietly reading a book, the sound of "Lawsy" when it comes from my Grandmother's lips, the bottomlessness of my son's dark eyes, the pride I feel when my teenage son opens the door for an elderly couple at a restaurant, cooking with Erin in the kitchen, the warmth of my husband's hand in mine.
The warmth of Angus and Molly lying at my side and the sight of their antics and wagging tails that welcome me home at the end of the day.
The creak bindings make when you open an old book, the texture of the pages, the musty smell and the typeface of words within - I am addicted to books.
I love looking at crystals, gemstones, fossils, shells, grains of sand, arrowheads, twigs, branches, leaves and feathers.
I love my friend, Stacey's photography...there's something sublime in her botanical shots that soothe my soul. I never tire of gazing at them.
Looking up - always up - the miracle of the heavens awaits you there. My faith brings me joy.
The magic of creativity in design and fashion bring me so many hours of happiness. I find the older I get, the more simple things appeal to me.
My hands sinking into warm soil, the magical smell of loamy soil... I love planting a garden in early Spring. Watching your seedlings grow, nurturing them all Summer and then harvesting the fruits and vegetables....those home grown tomatoes...well.... as a gardener - it is the Joie de Vivre.
What's your Joie de Vivre?
