Texture Study in Kansas

Oh how I love texture...

I had so much fun adding texture to this pendant.  Each stroke of the hammer added just another bit of texture.  The hammer clang again and again on the anvil with pauses in between to inspect the face of the pendant.  I love the process.

A large round hunk of silver shaped, pounded, polished, shaped and then attached to a leather cord with heavy annealed wire.

Here is a shot I took of the Kansas sky...in the magestic Flint Hills.  Big sky, dark clouds and the sun streaming in rays toward the horizon.  It was one of those moments when you make a quiet prayer of gratitude for being here at this place, at this time, to see something so beautiful.

Initial Pendant - Purchase Here

Look at the pitted surface of the penant at the top.  I achieved this great texture by hammering the pendant on the shank of the anvil.  I move it all around seeking out different texture patterns.

A photo of the golden wheat fields of Kansas under a gray sky.  So beautiful...

My sweet husband picked up the vintage letter stamps at a farm auction for me.  I love them so much - they are huge 1" letters.  He also picked up 1/2" and smaller vintage font stamps for me tubs of them.  Love them - love him.

Sigh.. and.the beauty shot.

One last shot of soybean and wheat fields with wind turbine fields in the background located in Western Kansas.  Hundreds of wind turbines have blades that are 60' in length and stand 300' in the air.  Clean energy from the Heartland.  Love that too.

Blessings - Julie

So beautiful in its simplicity! I love this pendant's shiny parts and hammered parts, and especially that vintage letter stamp!

That came out really cool. I'm more than envious of your 1 inch letter stamps! And you've really got the photography down for your pieces, something that I'm finding is a necessity these days if you're going to sell anything online.
good work!
