Czech Glass Beauty - To Alter or Not To Alter?

These sweet little does came to visit my father's turnip patch over the weekend much to the delight of our family. They pawed the ground with their sharp hooves and pulled up the frozen green tops munching happily. The ground has been covered with snow and ice for several weeks and food must be scarce for these shy creatures to venture so close to the house.

In the City, we have deer in our front lawns regularly - the does are brazen in the city and will munch the leaves right off your trees with you watching in dismay. You have to clap your hands and make a fuss for them to turn and walk away back to the wooded area beside the house. They swish their tails as they go in a sassy sort of way to let you know they will be back to continue wreaking havoc on your trees and perennials whenever they like....

In the country, it's rare to see a deer this close to a house, especially with deer season just coming to an end - hunger conquers even the greatest of fears.

One of the jewelry pieces that I put together last week was this soft necklace with a vintage 4H pin awarded for Clothing - a former would be seamstress was beaming with pride when she received this award in front of the other girls - a right of passage in farming communities. Little girls were given their first sewing kits around age five.

I added a soft lavender blue ribbon for a tie closure with natural pearl drops wired in for interest.

I found this strand of vintage Czech glass beads at an antique shop a couple of years ago, with the intention to break them apart and use them in various jewelry making endeavors. I haven't been able to do it. They are just too beautiful just the way they are...

Aren't they lovely? I haven't seen any others like them. The individual beads are a nice size about the size of a small gumballs.

I opted to keep the beads intact so that they can be removed from the ribbon easily. Now I can wear this lovely necklace in the longer style to suit my neckline and I am happy knowing that I preserved it's original design and integrity.

There's something so pleasing to me to place a candle in a vintage piece of creamy white ironstone....bliss. In this case a sandlewood candle - my favorite Winter scent.

I'm so glad to welcome the New Year, that is so full of promise, possibilities and hopes.

Thanks for stopping by my friends.......
Blessings - Julie
